City of Frisco, Texas Implements Public Safety Initiative

Dateline: PLANO, Texas–(Business Wire)

Cistera Networks(R)  a leading provider of enterprise application platforms and engines for Internet Protocol (IP) Communications, has successfully completed the second phase of its comprehensive solution deployment into the Cisco unified communications environment serving the city of Frisco, Texas.

Frisco, located just thirty miles from Dallas, is one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States. As part of the city’s long-range development plan, its IT Department designed a fully integrated communications environment that would link all agencies and constituents in a connected community. Cistera’s comprehensive public safety solution set enhances customer service and internal efficiency and improves the delivery of timely and actionable information to better serve constituents’ day-to-day requirements and enable quicker responses to emergencies.

“We wanted a communication solution that would provide enhanced capabilities today, and grow with the city’s needs,” said Curt Balogh, Director of IT Services for Frisco. “Because all of Cistera’s applications are integrated into the Cistera ConvergenceServer(TM), it is a perfect solution for a long-term development plan such as ours. We are already seeing the advantages of its scalability, and look forward to deploying additional Cistera capabilities in the future.”

Dual Cistera ConvergenceServers provide full redundancy and deliver Event Alerting and Notification (EAN) and Quality Assurance and Compliance (QAC) solutions. RapidBroadcast(TM), a component of EAN, provides city-wide broadcasting and paging capabilities. Messages can be sent via IP phones and as text alerts, and can be live or pre-recorded. In the future, alerting can be extended to analog and cell phones, overhead speakers and Land Mobile radios. QuickRecord(TM), part of QAC, was deployed to provide on-demand recording capabilities for the police department, Planning and Development Department and Municipal Courts. The ability to record an entire call as long as the record button is pressed prior to the call’s termination has been extremely useful to detectives, court personnel and code enforcement officers. The solution’s call tagging feature allows users to identify calls by account number for easy reference and retrieval. The Municipal Courts also use CallCenterRecord(TM) to provide continuous recording for some users.

“From a reliability and scalability standpoint, the Cistera products are second to none. I have never had any performance issues with the servers. They just work,” said Gil Fernandez, IT technical support specialist for the City of Frisco. “Every time I have a new request for an application feature, I experience a ‘wow it does that too?’ response from the end user. Employees in our Code Enforcement Group were using hand held recorders to capture important information from phone calls. Now they can record an entire call with the touch of a button, tag it, and eliminate having to request the same information on subsequent calls.”

The next phase of Frisco’s communications plan will include deployment of Cistera’s LMRConnect(TM), an EAN component, for linking fire, police and emergency responder push-to-talk radios to the IP network. LMRConnect provides for direct communication between these personnel, regardless of frequency, eliminating the need for manual dispatcher intervention and improving efficiency and response times. Recording capabilities allow for radio communications to be preserved for response documentation and training purposes. Discussions are also underway to incorporate VirtualDirectory(TM) to provide a centralized directory with intelligent search capabilities across all departments that will enhance efficient communications and minimize delays due to miscommunication.

“It has been exciting for us to work with the city of Frisco, as our products were designed with the scalability to support just this type of long-range planning and state-of-the-art communication requirement,” said Derek Downs, Cistera’s CEO. “We look forward to growing right along with them, and continuing to provide the advanced capabilities that they will want and need in the future.”

Trusted Computer Solutions Partners with Cistera Networks

Dateline: HERNDON, Va. Jul 27, 2010

Trusted Computer Solutions (TCS), a leading developer of cross domain, operating system and network security solutions, today announced a partnership with Cistera Networks(R), a provider of enterprise application platforms and engines for unified communications. Cistera will integrate Security Blanket(R), TCS’ award-winning, automated, operating system lock down tool with their security compliance solutions for the federal government and sensitive commercial customers.

Security Blanket consistently and predictably hardens Linux(R) and Solaris(TM) operating systems in a fraction of the time that it takes to lock them down manually. The solution enables system administrators to configure and enhance security at the operating system level to meet the stringent guidelines required by the federal government.

“Cistera Networks is an ideal partner to integrate Security Blanket. They see the ease of use and time savings gained by automating the assessment of operating system security against industry standards and then configuring the security settings to meet compliancy requirements,” stated Ed Hammersla, Chief Operating Officer, Trusted Computer Solutions. “Cistera Networks and Trusted Computer Solutions have additional synergy in that both organizations have extensive reach into the government sector and share many of the same customers including the US Air Force, Department of Defense (DoD), and the US Army.”

“We were looking for a solution that integrated seamlessly into our award winning Cistera Convergence Server that allowed us to easily meet security compliance requirements,” stated Greg Royal, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Cistera Networks. “Security Blanket automates the process of securing the operating system to meet standards which provides significant time savings on each deployment. The Cistera convergence Server is a Quality and Management solution that provides Event Notification Alerting, and Quality and Compliancy recording. A number of our government customers require compliance to the Defense Information Security Agency (DISA) Secure Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs). Security Blanket has the STIGs pre-defined within the product, which results in a STIG lockdown being reduced from 30 days to 2 in a typical deployment. Integrating Security Blanket will increase our productivity and ensure the highest level of system security for our clients. We are very pleased to be integrating this technology and look forward to a rewarding relationship with TCS.”

Cistera Networks Increases Visibility with AcuityPlus

Dateline: Plano TX (4 April 2012)

Cistera Networks (TM)  a leading provider of enterprise application platforms and engines for unified communications, announces the release of Cistera AcuityPlus Incident Management, the latest application engine for the Quality Assurance and Management (QAM) solution from Cistera.

AcuityPlus Case Management engine implements both capture and analysis tools that allow users to quickly collate and analyze data from various communications interactions and other data sources. Integrating into Cistera QAMRecord, the system can flag calls and generate a case for further investigation. Administrators can collate additional information, which can then be used to zoom into fault analysis and resolution.

All organizations, to one degree or another, have to deal with incidents; outcomes that are not necessarily planned for the organization. These incidents have potential impact on your business operations. For example, contact centers deal with customer complaints and issues that fall outside the mainstream, while IT organizations tackle difficult problems that need special attention. Treasury and trading organizations may need to unravel a challenging contract critical to the business operations.

?AcuityPlus sieves through the masses of data to provide clarity when systems and process breakdown? says Cistera CEO Greg Royal. ?This allows organizations to quickly zoom in and get to the root of the problem. With Acuity Plus, we have seen dramatic improvements in the quality of customer interactions creating better customer outcomes.?

Cistera Networks Expands Public Notification Capability with Enhanced ZoneSpeak Solutions

Dateline: Plano TX (08-September-2011)

Cistera Networks a leading provider of enterprise application platforms and engines for unified communications today announced the addition of the enhanced ZoneSpeak Talk back Speaker to its successful Event Alerting and Notification solution set.

ZoneSpeak is a suite of overhead paging devices that integrate into Cistera’s RapidBroadcast? Application Engine to enhance communications capabilities for emergency and non-emergency event alerting and notification. Ideal for indoor spaces such as classrooms, cafeterias or conference rooms, as well as outdoor environments such as common areas and recreational facilities, the ZoneSpeak goes beyond one-way broadcasting to allow individuals to respond to alerts and notifications from anywhere on the campus, both inside and out.

ZoneSpeak represents the most recent breakthrough in extending IP communications beyond phones by the company which also developed the ZoneController?, the first synchronized broadcasting solution to incorporate legacy overhead paging systems into IP solutions. The Cistera ConvergenceServer?, which is integrated with all of the company’s services, expands the reach of an IP solution to include IP and analog phones, iPhones, Android and other SMS capable phones, Land Mobile Radios, public address systems, and email systems.

With increased pressure to provide seamless communication during crisis and public safety situations whether in K12/higher education, federal, state or local government facilities, or for any organization with a public safety mandate, Cistera ZoneSpeak can be deployed to improve safety, security and visibility in times of crisis. Cistera ZoneSpeak is currently implemented in over 100 customers covering over 1,000,000 people.

“The ZoneSpeak solution can be used for situational awareness during a crisis for example.” said Greg Royal Cistera founder and CEO. “The devices can be set to monitor mode. This allows the speakers to listen (and record) live audio so that responders have increased information in a crisis. Many situations have video monitoring present but not audio. A combination such as this can dramatically improve public safety.”

Cistera ZoneSpeak and ZoneController can be ordered immediately.

Cistera Networks and Sipera Systems Deliver Disaster Recovery for Distributed Call Center at Financial Services Firm

Dateline: Plano TX (25-July-2011)

Cistera Networks(R), a leading provider of enterprise application platforms and engines for unified communications, announces the delivery of a comprehensive unified communications disaster recovery and business continuity solution for a global financial services group, provided in conjunction with UC security solutions vendor Sipera Systems.

With call center agents and traders distributed throughout North and South America, the financial services group identified a critical business need around operational continuity and disaster recovery. The unified communications solution needed to be fully recoverable in the event of a disaster such as adverse weather conditions. While the customer had a backup data center connected using metropolitan fiber to duplicate computer capacity in the event of an emergency, the solution also required that agents be able to work from various locations including from home when circumstances require. Furthermore, the customer needed to ensure that all of the unified communications traffic could be monitored for quality, recorded as needed, and properly encrypted as required for compliance with privacy laws and retention rules.

Cistera delivered two CCS 2540 high availability servers running the latest version of Cistera Quality Assurance and Management software, one at each data center. The CCS integrated with the award-winning Sipera UC-Sec security appliances to provide secure access from any location through secure connections, and to send communications traffic to CCS for quality assurance and compliance purposes. Each agent is able to access all unified communications functions regardless of location and services required. The combined solution ensures that these communications are monitored and archived to meet quality targets and compliance rules, while at the same time being encrypted and fully private to traverse external networks to reach agents.

“Cistera and Sipera are among the few vendors capable of delivering secure and highly available unified communications regardless of distance and security requirements” says Cistera CEO Greg Royal. “Previously, capability was lost when a disaster plan was implemented. Today with Cistera and Sipera that is no longer the case. Call Centers can be back up and running without loss of customer service and capability.”

“Communications continuity is an essential part of maintaining smooth operations when the unexpected hits,” said John Lochow, CEO of Sipera Systems. “With Sipera and Cistera, an enterprise can maintain mission-critical communications while also ensuring these communications meet all quality, privacy and retention requirements.”

With Sipera’s solutions, firms are adopting enterprise-wide encrypted UC, safe SIP trunks, teleworker programs, IM archiving and monitoring, secure remote offices, and compliant UC. Sipera’s groundbreaking “Borderless UC” architecture enables all communications to be encrypted and compliant on any device in any location inside or outside the enterprise, vital for delivering a truly comprehensive business continuity solution.

The award-wining Cistera ConvergenceServer is the industry’s most comprehensive delivery platform for a robust and scalable solution that adds features and functionality to a communications environment. Each Cistera ConvergenceServer comes equipped with the full range of Cistera application engines, making installation and expansion a simple, straightforward process.
